Hourly program

Hourly classes with diverse programs suitable for the diverse needs of each child and adolescent, such as Language Development, Life Skills, Physical Development, etc., are ideal for the early stages of children’s acquaintance.

Individual time with the special educator is the time for each child to share and learn directly with the teacher in some 1:1 activities.2

1. Increasing independence in self-care skills:

  • Completing typical daily routines independently (dressing, hygiene, grooming and feeding).

     

  • Basic meal preparation activities and household chores such as tidy up, fold clothes, sweep the floor, …

     

  • Money management for personal necessities like for e.g. buy a snack.

     

  • Improve the ability to move around his own living area in safety.

     

  • Adaptive strategies (feeding tools, low vision strategies, environmental modifications).

2. Improving fine motor skills:

  • Buttoning, zipping, opening and closing different kind of containers, …

     

  • Handwriting, drawing, typing on a keyboard, using devices.

     

  • Using tools, like scissors, tong, molds, paintbrushes, …

     

  • Play activities involving small pieces (example: Legos, board games, puzzles).

3. Improving gross motor skills:

  • Including core and upper body strength.

     

  • Coordination.

     

  • Balance.

     

  • Improve body awareness .

     

  • Motor planning skills.

     

  • Relaxation.

4. Sensory processing and emotional regulation:

  • Improving participation in social groups.

     

  • Improve sharing with others.

     

  • Team activities.

     

  • Follow the social rules.
